Spanish Specialist -June 2018

MCS is seeking a Spanish specialist teacher for the 2018-2019 academic year beginning in August 2018.  The right candidate will possess a master’s degree in Spanish language and have at least 5 years classroom experience. A familiarity with the Montessori philosophy is preferred but not required. Duties of this job include creating lesson plans, preparing a classroom environment, teaching vocabulary, conversation and culture to students of all ages at age appropriate levels.

We are also looking for a team player who is willing to use their time to serve the school in ways that are useful, which may include helping in after school care and/or playground supervision. An openness to learning about the Montessori philosophy and the ability to work collaboratively with other faculty members are other traits this teacher should possess.

This is a full time, 30 hour per week position with benefits. Salary will depend on education and experience. Assistant Teacher -lower elementary

Montessori Center School is seeking a full time assistant teacher at the lower elementary level (1st thru 3rd grade) for the 2018/2019 academic year, beginning in August. This is a full time position with excellent benefits under the direct supervision of the Montessori credentialed head teacher. Montessori or Teaching Credential highly desirable but not required. Bachelor Degree preferred. However, experience working with children is a must as well as being able to pass a criminal background check and TB test is required. Salary depends on experience and educational level.
As an assistant teacher you will be in a supporting role in the classroom, under the direction of the Head Teacher you will assist in preparing and maintaining the classroom, supervising the children, checking students' work and ensuring the daily routines of the classroom are met. Specific responsibilities may include: accompanying groups of children to specialist classes on campus, playground supervision, checking children's work, monitor and model Montessori manners (grace and courtesy), lamination of materials, cleaning shelves and materials, preparing snack, maintaining supply shelves, gardening, and assist with other projects as assigned by the head teacher. It is important to adhere to school protocol and school policies in all dealings with parents.

Floater/Assistant Teacher

MCS is seeking a part-time floater/permanent substitute teacher who will work in several functional areas and act as a substitute teacher when a teacher is absent.   The duties will be determined by the needs of the school on a daily basis. This person will most often work as an assistant teacher in the toddler and pre-school classrooms when a teacher is absent.  At times, this person may work as a substitute teacher in the elementary or specialist classrooms.   Additional responsibilities may include assisting with naptime, monitoring the playground and supporting the library program or the administration.

The ideal candidate will be an energetic, flexible and dedicated team player who is patient and caring and possesses a positive attitude, nurturing personality, and loves working with children.  This individual must be able to effectively supervise children in safe learning/play activities and facilitate the development of social skills.  Previous relevant experience is preferred.

Hours:  Monday –Friday from 8:15 am -2:15 pm.   Salary: $16 per hour.   Status: Non-exempt

Job Requirements:  A bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on early childhood education or child development and at least one year of experience working with children are preferred. 12 core ECE units and 3 infant/toddler ECE units required.   Must pass a criminal background clearance and meet immunization requirements for childcare workers.
