Montessori Center School

toddler through sixth grade since 1965

The goal of Spanish class is to expose students to the Spanish language and cultures at a young and impressionable age, through consistent, formal instruction. We present vocabulary in the context of daily life through conversation and cultural experiences.  The program's focus is global and relies on music, games, manipulative materials, puppets, food, role play, and stories in a group setting with the aim that children would enjoy language learning and be motivated to continue exploring the wider world.

At the elementary level students begin learning to read and write in Spanish and work more independently with a conversation partner as their ability and confidence grow. Upper Elementary students also expand their learning with a self-paced online program.
