Clothing
- Provide simple, comfortable, washable clothing appropriate to the weather and easy for your child to manage for him or herself.
- Children should wear closed-toes shoes; sandals, party shoes and "jellies" are not appropriate. Please avoid clothing with violent or armaments-related motifs. Children may not wear neck scarves or necklaces which will not easily break free to prevent choking.
- Every item should be labeled!
- "Lost and Found" is located in the MCS office kitchen; unclaimed items are donated to charity periodically.
Toys
- While younger children may need a special toy for comfort during the settling in period, we generally discourage children from bringing toys to school. Toys can be easily lost or broken, causing distress for the owner.
- Children are welcome to bring books, tapes or other special items which relate to class activities.
- Kindly check pockets for unfamiliar objects when your child returns home; these may be part of school equipment and are often very costly to replace or render the material unusable to other students.
- Label any items sent to school. MCS regrets it cannot be responsible for loss or damage.
- If a child deliberately damages material or the environment, he or she may be asked to repair or replace the damage or provide some other appropriate restitution.
Snack Time
Healthy snacks are provided to all students in the morning and during after school care.
Lunch Time
- Children bring their own lunches. Milk and water are provided by MCS during lunch. Cooking projects may occur in the classes; you may be asked to contribute an ingredient. Some classes may organize pizza orders on Fridays. If your child has any food restrictions or allergies, please notify the office and classroom.
- Montessori Center School encourages healthy eating habits and is concerned with your child's consumption of chemical preservatives, additives and processed sugar. We ask that your child's lunch include healthful foods - those without the above mentioned items. No candy, gum, sodas or sugary cakes/cupcakes/desserts.
- We encourage use of easy-to-open recyclable containers for food and beverages; please label lunch boxes, thermoses, etc. with your child's name. Please avoid lunch boxes or containers with violent or armaments-related motifs.
- State regulations prohibit sharing of food items for Pre-Primary and Primary age students.
