MCS announces that Melanie Jacobs will step down as Head of School effective June 30, 2023. The board is initiating a comprehensive search process to identify a permanent Head of School. For the 2023-24 school year, the board has appointed Vanessa Jackson, a seasoned school leader, parent, and alumna of MCS to serve as Interim Head of School.
Montessori Center School’s Board President, Michael-James Hey, states, “On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we wish Melanie well as she begins her next chapter. Under Melanie’s leadership, the school launched and made significant progress with our strategic plan, opened a new STEAM lab facility, and safely re-opened the school at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are grateful to Melanie for her 30 years of tireless service and dedication to MCS.”
Melanie Jacobs says, “Over these last several decades, I have had the privilege to work with many talented educators and administrators who have made my time here so special. I appreciate all the support the entire MCS community of families, staff, and volunteers has shown me over the years. As MCS moves into the next chapter, I send you all warm wishes of joy and peace.”
Jackson says, “I’d like to thank the Board of Trustees for their trust and confidence. I look forward to partnering with our amazing staffulty and parent community and supporting MCS through this transition.”
