MCS has a new look!

Admin • September 13, 2019

[ See image gallery at mcssb.org ] Exciting news! As part of our strategic planning process this year, MCS is pleased to announce our new brand identity, which includes a refreshed logo, emblem, colors, and slogan.

Our distinctive branding seeks to present MCS as a forward-thinking institution while still recognizing and honoring our 50+ years of history. Both our primary logo and emblem are inspired by our original “tomoe” design and are a modern interpretation of the same concepts.

In alignment with our current logo, our refreshed logo and newly created emblem were designed to represent the three equal parts of learning:

  • The body of knowledge
  • Those who teach
  • Those who learn

While we are moving away from gold, Leaf Green will continue to be our signature color along with MCS Navy and Sky Blue.

The meaning behind our color choice of blue and green:

  • Blue and green reflect our love of earth and nature.
  • Blue is linked to consciousness and intellect. It symbolizes trust, understanding, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, integrity, peace, truth.
  • Green is the color of life, renewal, nature, and energy is associated with meanings of growth, harmony, safety, and environment.
  • The colors blue and green are used in mathematics, geometry, geography, and language materials – reflecting our continued focus on academic excellence while cultivating our global citizenship and cultural competency.

Our new slogan, “Educate. Engage. Empower.” is inspired by MCS’s institutional identity which was unveiled in May 2019.

Over the course of the year, you will see our updated branding reflected in our campus signage, our communications materials, and school spirit items. To learn more about our strategic plan, please visit, mcssb.org/strategic plan.
