The Montessori Parent Organization – “MPO” – is the body of parents and caregivers that fosters MCS’ community among families, leverages the power of parent volunteerism, and champions parent voice for our organization. MPO events are funded in part by dues collected as part of tuition. Every parent at MCS automatically becomes a member of the MPO when you enroll your child(ren) at the school, and we encourage our MPO members to give your time and energy to support the work of the MPO and thereby create an engaged and vibrant community for our students.
The MPO takes on five pillars of family engagement:
Led by an MPO chair or MPO co-chairs, the MPO Leadership Group spearheads planning and execution of the work and activities that comprise the five pillars.
These are parents or caregivers who take responsibility for creating engagement among the MCS community by creating authentic and delightful social experiences that build connection and fun for our families.
Each classroom has a room rep or co-room reps. The room reps partner with and support the classroom teacher to coordinate special projects and classroom volunteer opportunities for various events throughout the year. Room reps serve as the MPO representative in the classroom.
Leads host and run parent interest groups focused on specific areas of interest for our parent/caregiver community.
These are parents or caregivers who take responsibility for driving engagement with the broader community in a way that exhibits the Montessori philosophy of the joy of giving of themselves, allowing our families to lead with compassion through real, practical volunteer experiences.
These are parents or caregivers who take responsibility for celebrating our faculty and staff throughout the school year via MPO funded events/surprises. This is a big way for MCS families to show appreciation for all this school does for our children and community.
